<p style="text-align: justify;">Entrevistamos a David Jiménez, profesor de la Universidad Camilo José Cela (UCJC), y uno de los tres coordinadores del novedoso curso de verano preuniversitario “Humanities, Science and Technology”. Como nos cuenta, “creemos que no existe un curso similar en la oferta educativa en España”, además añade,\u{A0} “es un primer paso dentro de la estrategia más amplia para implementar la transversalidad a todos los niveles en la UCJC, contribuyendo así a crear una oferta formativa única en España”. <p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>1. ¿Cómo surgió la idea de este curso? ¿Quiénes están detrás del mismo?</strong></p>\n
<p style="text-align: justify;">La transversalidad es uno de los pilares fundamentales de la nueva etapa de la Universidad Camilo José Cela (UCJC), etapa que está abanderada por el equipo rectoral que dirige el Dr. Samuel Martín-Barbero. Esta transversalidad se está implementando a varios niveles y a través de una amplia gama de iniciativas, entre las cuales se encuentra este curso de verano preuniversitario “Humanities, Science and Technology”. En noviembre de este año el equipo rectoral pidió a un grupo de profesores de reciente incorporación que diseñaran un curso en el que se aunaran, de una forma novedosa, la formación en Humanidades con la formación en Ciencia y Tecnología.</p>\n
<p style="text-align: justify;">Los tres coordinadores del curso somos Eva Cano Fernández, Gonzalo Velasco y David Jiménez Torres, profesores de la universidad con una extensa experiencia en el extranjero: Eva realizó sus estudios superiores en Londres; Gonzalo ha realizado estancias en las universidades de Cornell y Harvard y en el Istituto Italiano di Scienze Umane; y David se licenció en EEUU, es doctor por la universidad Cambridge y fue varios años profesor en la universidad de Manchester. Esta experiencia internacional nos ha expuesto a modelos educativos flexibles que apuestan por la transversalidad en el conocimiento y en la docencia, y eso es algo que hemos querido reflejar en este curso preuniversitario, creando así una oferta única en España.</p>\n
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>2. Son muchas las universidades que pueden ofertar un curso de verano preuniversitario, ¿qué aspectos novedosos y diferenciadores destacarías de esta iniciativa?</strong></p>\n
<p style="text-align: justify;">Sinceramente, creemos que no existe un curso similar en la oferta educativa en España. No es solo que apostemos igual de fuerte por las Humanidades, la Ciencia y la Tecnología, sino que también creamos un equilibrio entre el pensar, el hacer y el descubrir; esto es, entre clases magistrales, talleres prácticos y visitas y masterclasses de profesionales y emprendedores de reconocido prestigio. Un alto número de clases se impartirá además en inglés, contribuyendo a preparar a los alumnos para un futuro bilingüe e internacional. Además, las clases de Humanidades buscan resaltar su relevancia fundamental en el mundo de hoy al vincular ideas provenientes de la literatura, la filosofía y la historia a los problemas más acuciantes del presente tecnológico: la privacidad en la era de Google y Facebook, la política 2.0, la idea del progreso en tiempos del iPhone, etc. Todo esto, además, en las incomparables instalaciones de la UCJC en Villafranca del Castillo, donde los estudiantes del curso podrán además hacer uso de las magníficas instalaciones deportivas y lúdicas en su tiempo libre.</p>\n
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>3. ¿Quiénes pueden acceder a este curso? ¿Existe algún requisito indispensable?</strong></p>\n
<p style="text-align: justify;">El curso está diseñado para estudiantes de 16-18 años que sean capaces de mostrar, en los distintos materiales que componen la solicitud, una curiosidad por el conocimiento transversal y una voluntad de explorar nuevos horizontes. En términos prácticos, los estudiantes que quieran participar en el curso deberán enviar una reflexión acerca de la importancia de la transversalidad, una carta de recomendación y un video en el que nos hablen de sí mismos y de qué pueden aportar al curso.</p>\n
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>4. Después de esta iniciativa, ¿qué nuevos retos os planteáis?</strong></p>\n
<p style="text-align: justify;">El curso preuniversitario “Humanities, Science and Technology” es un primer paso dentro de la estrategia más amplia para implementar la transversalidad a todos los niveles en la UCJC, contribuyendo así a crear una oferta formativa única en España. Nuestra intención es que varios aspectos del modelo del HST se hagan extensivos a los distintos grados y titulaciones a través del programa UCJC+, que se empezará a implementar a partir del año que viene.</p>\n
